I am not starting this story anew. I am simply continuing it.

TwojaSztuka.pl is my own space devoted to painting — a place where artistic practice, art history, and many years of experience working with the painted image come together.

My painting is a journey. I return to places I remember, but I do not recreate them literally. I am interested in what remains over time: a fragment of architecture, light, color, rhythm, atmosphere. This experience gives rise to the themes I continue to develop: Journey – Light – Mist, Roma Sparita, Italia Mentale, and Echoes of the Orient.

Two perspectives on painting

About my painting

In my work, two ways of looking at a painting come together. On the one hand, I look at it as an art historian — through knowledge of culture, architecture, and the tradition of painting. On the other, as a visual artist — through color, light, and emotion. These two perspectives do not function separately. They come together in the painting.

I am inspired by afterimages of history and memories of travel — Renaissance buildings, fragments of cities, port spaces, the light of the South. Over time, what has been seen merges with memory and imagination. For me, this is a transposition of knowledge of history and architecture into a painterly sign. A translation of what has been learned and remembered into the language of painting.

Over time, the actual view of a place loses its sharpness. Contours fade. Some elements remain, while others almost completely dissolve. I am interested precisely in this space between what was once seen and what memory has preserved years later.

“I do not believe in a single definition of painting. For me, art is a search — from traces of the old mastersto my own response to color, light, and matter.”

TWOJASZTUKA.PL — HISTORY

Art was a natural part of my family home. My father, Stefan Dobroń, has been painting for more than fifty years. The studio, paintings, and paints have been part of my life for as long as I can remember.

When TwojaSztuka.pl was launched in 2006, we created it together. From the beginning, however, each of us developed our own painterly language. Art was, and remains, something that connects us — to this day, we talk about painting, show each other our work, and exchange observations.

Today, I present my own work on TwojaSztuka.pl, while maintaining continuity with the family history of the project.
